Cleanup
[edit]This article could use cleanup. It also needs some more information regarding Balle N ammunition, could probably use more info as well about other aspects. I'll try and see what I can do with it later. BTW, there is an article on the 8mm Lebel rifle cartridge in the French Wikipedia which has a picture of the cartridge. Since I couldn't figure out how to simply linkt hat image into this article, or if that was even ok to do, I left it out. It would be cool if someone were able to work it into this article as well. - Thanks for moving it. How did you do so? Tengu99 22:32, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
Hmmm...I seem to remember some claims that the taper was intentional in order to allow a tubular magazine to be used with pointed bullets. I'll have to see if I can find a reference for that. Anyone know of one? Kemkerj 15:41, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
- AFAIK the taper was just French engineering as usual. The groove & primer covers were used to allow pointed bullets. Tengu99 22:32, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
- Well, something had to do that; normally spitzer bullets and tubular mags are a bad combination. 71.203.209.0 01:31, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit]In an obvious typo, rim thickness and cartridge length are both given as 51mm, which is obviously the cartridge length. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.172.7.178 (talk) 15:45, 14 June 2010 (UTC)
I am reasonably certain that the bullet diameter is .323 (8mm), rather than the 8.3mm (.33) as listed in the specification box. I would make the edit myself but for the fact that I don't have completely reliable (non-internet based) information in front of me and will not have access to a weapon and ammo in this caliber/cartridge again until later in the year (2015). I will confirm and correct it then unless someone does so sooner. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.18.28.141 (talk) 14:05, 19 February 2015 (UTC)
8mm Lebel revolver ammunition
[edit]If a more proper terminology for the ammunition used in the Model 1892 Lebel revolvers is available then please include it, but since ammunition for the revolver is referred to as 8mm Lebel (even Fiocchi sells ammo labeled 8mm Lebel for the revolver) please don't remove the warning note. Again, feel free to add in nomenclature (such as 8mm Lebel rifle ammo should not be confused with <insert proper French terminology here> revolver ammunition). Someone reading the article & just getting started on collecting firearms may wind up accidently buying 8mm Lebel revolver ammunition simply because they're not aware of the existence of the revolver. Thanks. Tengu99 (talk) 17:39, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
